MSP takes a holistic approach to addressing domestic violence, and our Clinical and Family Services unit provides a path toward safety and healing for Westchester families.
The above video describes our services in ASL.
MSP’s Clinical and Family Services unit offers:
- Advocacy and Case Management Clients are matched with an experienced DV Advocate who provides individualized safety planning and emotional support, information about the patterns of domestic violence and the impact of trauma, and referrals to internal and external supports aimed at providing stability and assistance.
- Clinical Counseling for Children Affected by Domestic Violence. MSP’s clinicians provide children of survivors with short-term trauma-informed therapy, creating a space for healing and using a mixture of approaches responsive to the needs, culture, and individuality of each client.
- Therapeutic Support Groups. MSP’s support groups (in English and Spanish) meet regularly to build mutual support and a sense of community among survivors with similar experiences.
- Specialized Programs for Children. Children exposed to violence and abuse in the home are supported through a range of age-appropriate interventions – from individual counseling, arts-based therapeutic groups, and two-generation clinical supports to strengthen the caregiver-child bond.
MSP’s supportive services for families also includes:
HEARTs – Healing, Encouraging, and Restoring Together: a series of four workshops for families that helps both the caregiver and child to understand the ways in which trauma may be impacting emotions, behaviors, and relationships in the aftermath of abuse.
In-Office Childcare – For clients who do not have access to childcare, our in-office childcare is available as you recieve services at MSP offices
