What are the signs of dating abuse? What are gender stereotypes, and how do they impact relationships? How can I help a friend that is being victimized? Young people face many difficult questions like these. MSP helps middle and high school students explore these and other challenging topics through Relationships Empowerment and Leadership (REAL), in-depth, small group workshops held over 6 to 10 weekly sessions.
Participants discuss establishing healthy relationships, resolving conflicts maturely, and recognizing personal boundaries. MSP's educators teach crucial aspects of respectful relationships through games, activities, and group discussions. REAL creates a safe space in which students can address their concerns about issues such as dating violence, consent, boundaries, gender stereotypes and sexual harassment, giving young people the opportunity to voice their concerns and engage in dialogue with encouraging and judgment-free adults.
To discuss bringing REAL to your group or community, please fill out this Interest Indicator Form or contact dvepstaff@mspny.org.
