It is thanks to the initial engagement and support of Luella Slaner, more than 20 years ago, and the continued dedication of Luella's daughter, Deborah Slaner Larkin, that My Sisters’ Place Center for Legal Services was born, enabling the agency to provide free legal advice and representation to survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. We are eternally grateful to Luella and Deborah for their many years of friendship and for believing so strongly in the mission of My Sisters’ Place.
In acknowledgment of the 22 years that Karen Cheeks-Lomax served as MSP's General Counsel and Chief Executive Officer, advancing our mission with wisdom, insight, humanity, and love,
the Board of Directors proudly announced in Fall 2023 that MSP’s legal center will now be known as The Karen Cheeks-Lomax Center for Legal Services, honoring Karen’s legacy into our next chapters.
