Community Educator

 

JOB HIGHLIGHTS: As part of a dynamic, diverse team of passionate educators, committed to transforming the world, you will be a part of a dedicated team responsible for Community Education and Prevention programming and activities. 

MAIN AREAS OF FOCUS: Youth education and prevention, positive youth development, community outreach and relationship-building, curriculum development, workshop facilitation, program management.

LOCATION: This opportunity is primarily based in Yonkers, NY – currently performed remotely, with in-person work on an as-needed basis. The role involves travel throughout Westchester County to meet the needs of our community partners including (but not limited to) middle and high schools, community-based organizations and other youth-serving agencies.

JOB OVERVIEW: As a Community Educator, you will work to further MSP’s mission in accordance with our guiding principles in a key role as part of the Community Education and Prevention team. The Community Educator is expected to provide programming in a way that is compassionate and adheres to culturally appropriate best practices and agency expectations.

As a passionate advocate for social justice, you adopt an anti-oppression lens to understand gender-based violence. You recognize that clients come to MSP while navigating different structural and social injustices that affect their experiences of survivorship. You also understand that this work requires and ongoing commitment to developing the language and tools we need to undo institutional oppression.

TEAM OVERVIEW: MSP’s Community Education and Prevention team consists of a Community Educator, Manager of Youth Education and Prevention, Director of Social Transformation, Coordinator of Giant Steps Through Athletics, Project Coordinator of Linking Communities Collaboration for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community and Senior Director of Community Collaborations.
