My Sisters’ Place hosted its annual volunteer appreciation luncheon at Bonnie Briar Country Club in Larchmont on June 21st. The luncheon was attended by over 30 active MSP volunteers and was held to show our appreciation for our incredible volunteers and all that they do to support our mission.

Volunteers support MSP in variety of ways. Some provide comfort and emotional support to victims of domestic violence while they are in family court through the Sister-in-Law program while others work to create successful fundraising and awareness events. MSP also works with many lawyers that offer their time pro-bono as well as translators that support our legal program.

At the event MSP extended their gratitude to volunteers, recognizing all those who have provided support as generous and selfless members of the MSP Family. My Sisters’ Place CEO, Karen Cheeks-Lomax, and Board of Directors Co-Chair, Tom Rice, began the luncheon by thanking the volunteers for creating a lasting impact on the community as members of the MSP Family and working so hard to make our programs successful.

Volunteer Coordinator, Silvia Lederman, and Managing Attorney, Pro Bono Project & Clifford Chance Fellow, Anne O’Grady, described the variety of ways volunteers have helped My Sisters’ Place in the past year. Both detailed the importance of each volunteer and that without their help, MSP would not be able to offer nearly as much help to the community as it has been able to.

Volunteers were given the opportunity to share their personal experiences with My Sisters’ Place, and the ways they have been able to contribute to the organization. Many shared the importance of My Sisters’ Place in their own lives and how working with and supporting clients has inspired them.
