My Sisters’ Place Joins the Global #GivingTuesday Movement

White Plains, NY (November 25, 2015) – My Sisters’ Place (MSP) is on a mission to raise $10,000 this #GivingTuesday (December 1st), a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. MSP supporters and friends are encouraged to make a donation online at on or before Tuesday, December 1st and help inspire others to give back in an impactful way.

Countless headlines have been spotlighting issues of domestic violence and human trafficking, commanding the attention of lawmakers and the general public and creating the opportunity for meaningful progress. For more than 38 years, MSP has been a leader in this regard, working in the trenches to assist survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking and their children as well as serving as a catalyst for change. In the past year alone, more than 5,500 youth have been reached through our Domestic Violence Education and Prevention (DVEP) program.

“Each year, we touch the lives of over 10,000 individuals and families in need,” said MSP CEO Karen Cheeks-Lomax, Esq. “Our fundraising needs are greater now more than ever before, considering the funding cuts proposed by County Executive Rob Astorino in his 2016 budget plan. Your participation in events like this will help to ensure that we can continue to raise the awareness and funds needed to support this critical work.”
