Volunteers at My Sisters’ Place play a vital and valuable role in assisting to further our mission and help empower each client that comes through our doors.


Current Opportunities:

Sister in Law Program: Volunteers provide clients with emotional support and advocacy during accompaniments to local courts, social service appointments, and medical appointments. They also assist in our shelters placing weekly food orders, unpacking and storing delivered food, and organizing donation rooms. Participation in this program requires a personal interview and completion of a mandatory 30 hour training session. Our SIL Volunteers received Volunteer New York’s Social Advocacy Award in 2015

Translation Volunteers: Volunteers work in our offices under the direct supervision of our staff to translate for clients. Fund Raising Events/Collection Drives: Organizing external fund raising events and in-kind donation drives is a great way to work as a team to benefit our clients. This opportunity is ideal for student groups, businesses, community groups, and scout troops. It also make a great Bar/Bat Mitzvah project. Purchase College Lacrosse Team

 

Corporate and Community Group Events: We welcome partnerships with Corporate and Community groups. Please contact email hidden; JavaScript is required to set up a meeting with our Volunteer Coordinator to discuss group volunteer opportunities.

Team MSP: Raise awareness and funds to end domestic violence and human trafficking through athletic events. Working with Team MSP allows participants the opportunity to create their own way to get involved or to join an athletic event we are already organizing. Create Party Kits for our shelters: Help our shelters have fun throughout the year by creating celebration kits for specific holidays. Donating decorations, treats, themed disposable dishware, and other items allows our staff to create memorable and festive programs for residents of all ages.
