Since MSP's inception, we have been dedicated to being a welcoming place for survivors and their families no matter the situation or time. The cornerstone to this aspect of our mission is our emergency services made up of our emergency hotline, emergency shelter, and DVHRT. Read more about these services below.

Emergency Hotline:

MSP's advocates can be reached 24/7 through our emergency hotline (800-298-7233 (SAFE)). Our hotline has been a cornerstone of our preventive services since our inception. The hotline is a for people who are in abusive relationships, for those who have been trafficked, for those looking seeking crisis counseling, and those who are unsure if they are being abused or trafficked. Our advocates are trained to help navigate these emergency situations. When survivors call our hotline, they can expect trained staff to listen to their story without judgement, assess the callers' safety, and provide information and referrals to all of MSP's services along with any relevant community partnerships.

Text to Chat:

We believe in meeting clients where they're at, and one way to do that is by providing multiple lines of communication. Survivors are able to reach advocates through texting or online chat. Our online chat can be found at mspny.org/connect-now and is available Monday through Saturday 10AM to 10PM. Similarly, clients are able to reach us through texting us at (914) 600-4208.When clients reach out to our advocates, they can expect the same care and access to resources as those who call our emergency hotline. Clients are advised to ensure they are connecting through a safe device prior to communicating through these mediums.

Emergency Shelter:

Emergency shelter is an essential service that MSP offers for survivors leaving violent situations. Our shelter is confidentially located, wheelchair accessible, and provides clients with advocacy, case management, legal assistance, support groups, and so much more. Our 20-bed shelter isa space for clients to be fully supported on their journey, and our advocates help residents plan a transition into a safe community.

All services are free and confidential. We respect survivorautonomy; we will never force or coerce a survivor into any decision—including our services. Instead, we walk beside survivors as they make decisions on what safety looks like for them. We are here to provide expert assistance, options, and support, whatever the situation may be.

If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse in an intimate relationship, support is available.
